Exploring this moisturizer was a bit of a journey with mixed feelings for me. I am committed to using products from brands that don’t engage in animal testing, a conscious choice I make in my skincare routine. However, my husband, in his sweet attempt at a holiday gift, unknowingly presented me with this moisturizer. He’s still learning the ropes of skincare, and I appreciate his efforts.
Setting aside my usual First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Moisturizer, I decided to give this one a shot. First and foremost, the scent took me back to traditional, old-school moisturizers. The fragrance is quite pronounced, and I couldn’t help but notice it. If you have sensitive skin, the formula might pose a challenge due to the strong scent. Despite leaning towards sensitive skin myself, I didn’t experience any adverse reactions, so I continued using it.
While the initial fragrance was a bit overwhelming, the moisturizer surprisingly didn’t provoke any sensitivity issues on my skin. It’s a testament to its relatively gentle formula. However, I can’t help but wish for a more subdued scent.
In terms of performance, the moisturizer did provide adequate hydration. It absorbed well into my skin, leaving it feeling supple and moisturized. The texture is neither too heavy nor too light, striking a decent balance.
Overall, while the fragrance was a bit of a drawback for my preference, the moisturizer did deliver on its primary function – hydration. If scent isn’t a dealbreaker for you, this product might be worth considering. Kudos to my husband’s evolving skincare knowledge, and who knows, perhaps future gifts will align even more with my cruelty-free preferences.

- L’Oréal is NOT a cruelty-free brand, which is a big thumbs down from us. Despite making strides toward not testing on animals, they still choose to sell in areas that require animal testing by law, primarily China.
- There are over 6 fragrancing ingredients, including “fragrance,” which doesn’t make this product sensitive-skin friendly.
- It contains tocopherol (vitamin E), which is a great anti-oxidant but might be comedogenic on acne-prone skin.
